Drama Club

The drama club is made up of actors from P4-6. We meet every week for fun drama games.

This year our drama club decided to join the Hong Kong School Festival 2011/12.

The club members selected a script and worked very hard to put on a hilarious play entitled Mrs. Frankenstein M.D. The play is about a scientist who invents a monster! She soon gets bored and sends him off into the world with only a book entitled, ‘How to find a girlfriend.' The results are very funny!

We finally got to perform in front of the judges in February. The play went well and we were invited to perform at a public performance at the Tsuen Wan town hall on 10 th May!

We even won a host of awards including one of the adjudicators award.

The actors love to perform and are looking forward to the public performance in May.

Activity Adaptations

The objective of English Alliance 2013/14 is to further raise the interest of our primary school students in the learning and use of English through fun, creative and meaningful reading-related English language programme. By the end this programme, students will have stimulated to read English stories and provided with supplementary material to build on the reading experience of the programme.

Adaptations : Primary (KS2) workshop (90 minutes)

Workshop content

• Students who need more support will be using material from the Jonathan Swift novel “Gulliver's Travels” Stepping Stones Classic 2010 edition.
• Students who need more challenging activities will also use the above book but the workshop will be supplemented with more difficult readings.
• We will also use the movie ‘Gulliver's Travels' from 1977 - a mix of live action and animation.

Gulliver's Travels

All the students will have the opportunity to undertake fact-finding, engage in discussions, role-plays, and vocabulary-expanding activities.

These tasks will involve learning about the author, listening/watching and reading from the captioned books and related materials.

The students will have the opportunity to discuss some of the themes that appear in the story and take part in a role-play.

Workshop aims

The workshop will focus on-

• Stimulating an interest in reading.
• Creating opportunities to discuss themes.
• Interacting in the form of discussion or role-play.

This year I will be teaching, P 4, 5 and 6! With P4-6, I will be conducting the reading and drama workshops. During the reader workshops, students will be introduced to some really fun and interesting books, including classics, such as Tom Sawyer and story book adaption such as Pinocchio! The drama workshops will include many fun games to help students learn English through drama. We will also be joining the Hong Kong Drama Festival Competition to see if we can be as successful as last time! P5 and 6 will have a class play to practice and present to their classmates! Hello Everyone! I am happy to be here at PLK Dr. Jimmy Wong Chi-Ho (Tin Sum Valley) Primary School this year. This is my fourth year here at this school. I'm sure that we will have a lot of fun and learn a lot this year. I am originally from the US. I have been teaching primary, secondary, and kindergarten levels for 10 years in the US, South Korea, Beijing, Hangzhou, and these past few years in Hong Kong .
